Swordmasters of SalorenThe Counts of Saloren have long nurtured a strong rivalry with the Dukes of Roilsard. Although bound by an oath of fealty, the ambitious Counts of Saloren were determined to outshine their overlords in every conceivable domain. One of the most notable products of this rivalry was the creation of the Saloren Swordmasters. These greatsword-wielding infantry were initially developed to counter the renowned pike regiments of Roilsard but ultimately rose to equal their reputation.

Saloren BlueThe dark blue grapes endemic to the vineyards of Saloren produce a woody and bitter wine of purple colour. Despite its tannic taste, it has a rich complexity making it a mainstay in Imperial Courts.

Arca SalorenArca Saloren is the seat of power of the síl Saloren dynasty as well as the greatest castle in the duchy of Roilsard. This fortification began construction shortly after Roilsard gained its independence from the ancient Tretunic Kingdom but only grew to its current size after Roilsard was vassalized by Lorent under Queen Ioriel. During Ioriel’s reign, funding was poured into the castle, allowing it rapidly expand in no small part due to the hired expertise of Rubyhold engineers. The support from the elven queen as well as its Calasandur-inspired design earned Arca Saloren its elvenized name. The expansion of the fort proved its worth during the Lilac Wars as the strength of the castle left it unconquered by Lorentish forces, ultimately preserving Saloren's independence as the rest of Roilsard was partitioned.

Sommeliers of DameriaA side effect of producing Saloren Blue for the Imperial palate is that the wine purveyors of Saloren have become trusted by Damerian nobles to advise on wine. To best suit this calling, the Saloren Academy of Wine was founded in the year 1637 and has since remained the preeminent site of the accreditation of wine connoisseurs.

The Thorn CompromiseIn a last ditch effort to preserve their independence after the loss in the Fourth Lilac War, the síl na Loops of Loopúis swore fealty to Saloren. This union, while initially successful in preventing foreign domination of Loopúis, soon became marked with tension, as the síl na Loops were not content being subjects to their once fellow counts. Thus, in order to placate their vassal, the síl Saloren were forced to guarantee many stately positions to the síl na Loops, the only solace being that the budgets of these offices were taken over by their vassal.

Minaran Wine DancesThe first harvest of grapes is a joyous occasion celebrated across Lencenor but it is not often that the farmers celebrate before harvest is complete. In Saloren, despite the immense workload in processing the fruit, the farmers and peasants make it an event to conduct the required grape treading through folk dance and song. Through celebrating as the work is completed, the people of Saloren believe that this harvest has gained the blessing of Minara and that the joy of the celebrants has created a wine of superior quality.

Inheritors of WineportWhile the fall of the League of Winebay to Lorent was a monumental loss for the majority of the Winelords, Saloren instead found itself benefiting. Toarnaire, the city lost during the Lilac Wars, was finally returned as it requested annexation to protect from Lorentish domination. Furthermore, the following years saw an economic boom as former Wineport merchants fled to the free markets of Toarnaire to escape Lorentish regulation.
