Watchers on the WallThe Eagle Hobgoblins should have died then. When Harimar’s children surged out of the south - a tidal wave of teeth and claws, toppling empires - all historical precedent should have confined the hobgoblins of Shamakhad to death or worse.\nOnly the vision of Kibyon Zangyu saved them.\nWhether guided by gods, ancestors, spirits, or simply desperation itself, he found a path to salvation up the Godswall itself, through a hidden passage previously unseen, and never seen again after that fateful day. None amongst the Eagle Hobgoblins have ever forgotten the miracle that gave them a new life atop the world, but in particular those who still live by the Godswall remain ever vigilant. For if the wall was climbed once, it could be climbed again…
+15% Fort Defence

Follow the Black CraneEven to those fleeing slavery and death, the high wastelands of southeast Nomsyulhan didn’t initially seem like salvation. The first hobgoblins in Nomsyulhan wandered the desert for months, slowly starving, lost in the vast, unchanging space of the desert.\nThey were only saved by the Black Cranes. The hobgoblins saw the shapes of black birds silhouetted against the beating sun. Following the migrating cranes northwest, they eventually found Lake Naze-syul. Taking the black crane as their symbol, the hobgoblins of the southeast desert will never forget how the birds led them to salvation.
+2 Tolerance of the True Faith

Dacho ShepherdsAlthough it bears a vague resemblance to the Terrorbirds which the Shuvüüsh employ with such skill, the Dacho is an altogether different beast. Roughly the weight of a large sheep, this squat bird is at home in the high deserts of Nomsyulhan, where it munches on the sparse patches of grass and digs for roots with its large claws. The hobgoblins of the western desert raise Dacho for their thick, insulating feathers, their meat, their eggs, and the strange, viscous liquid they produce from their throats to feed their young. While many consider the cheese made from this liquid disgusting, it is a very popular commodity among our people.
+10% National Tax Modifier

Deliberate MovementEven at the best of times, it’s hard to coordinate and supply an army. In the high, largely-featureless deserts of Nomsyulhan, that difficulty compounds exponentially. Even using Dacho as pack animals, an army spreads out searching for food, and it’s easy to lose stragglers. Among our people only those who have a true understanding of the space an army occupies - as demonstrated by mastery of the Blind Dance - are allowed to lead armies.
-15% Land Attrition

Hold to the Old WaysWhile they claim to follow the way of the Eagle, our people believe that many of our kin have strayed from our shared traditions and lost their way. Rising from the mountains in the west, the Kuenan Nirokyu tribe defiles the ancient city of The’as Aschur, and in the north warlords subjugate the people in violation of nature itself. It is the duty of our people to show our brethren the error of their ways, and teach the ancient traditions to them once more.
+2% Missionary Strength

Defenders of TraditionFor most of their history, our tribe roamed the entire desert around the Godswall, all the way to the east shore of Naze-syul, but the expansion of the Kuenan Nirokyu in the early 15th century pushed our peopleout of the western lands. The series of border skirmishes with their reform-minded neighbors hardened our people into fierce fighters distrustful of outsiders and new ideas.
+5% Morale of Armies
+5% Shock Damage

Masters of the Blind DanceThe soaring Zugi Yusan have developed a unique artform in this empty desert, one which emphasizes a focus on space: the Nunranunu, or Blind Dance. The Dance is a days-long solitary movement through the emptier parts of the desert. As they move, the dancer scrapes and kicks away dirt to form a series of lines and shapes with deep cosmological meaning. It is not always performed blindfolded (although some do), the “blindness” refers to the fact that from the ground, the dancer cannot see what they are drawing on the face of the desert. To correctly place their brushstrokes on the immense canvas on which they dance, the Blind Dancer must understand their own body and how it moves through space. This is seen as a key talent in the cultivation of Spacebending.
