Greatness cannot last forever however, and the Third Great Xhaz ended the Bahari Kingdom of Kišakur in 667, which even saw Itrahureš itself submitting to Yamtetšesi domination in 808 against the tidal wave of gnollish invaders. No Representation, No TaxationThe Crathánori secession from Re’Uyel was primarily motivated by the lack of representation in the newly formed nobles' republic that had overthrown the previous Sun Elven Uyelzuir dynasty. The new laws governing Re’Uyel stated that only nobles were granted representation in parliament, and as the province of Crathánor had few nobles yet many merchants, they had little representation in government. This meant that the Crathánori had no power to stop Re’Uyeli nobles from saddling them with heavy tax burdens.\n\nOver the course of two years, Crathánori merchants began petitioning the government, and in 1427 they delivered an ultimatum to the nobility, "Give us the fair representation we deserve, or we will be forced to stop paying taxes." This was coldly rejected, and thus Crathánor seceded a month later, adopting a condensed version of the ultimatum as its official motto. The motto "No Representation, No Taxation" would become the founding principle of the newborn republic.

Legacy of ItrahurešThe collapse of the Draconic Xhaz in 480 led to the Tef Republic offering a large group of Bulwari from the Kingdom of Kišakur land in exchange for tribute. By 486 the Kišakuri and gnolls entered a stalemate, and droves of Yametšesi settlers intermixed with the native Businori population, leading to the birth of a new people, the Ilatani.\n\nItrahureš, the ‘Land of Lions’, the Bulwari name for Busilar, entered a great golden age under Ilatani rule, with the development of the combined Bulwari and Businori-Castanorian architectural styles into the Ilatani style of architecture, and the founding of the great city of Abtanuz, now known as Port Jaher. Greatness cannot last forever however, and the Third Great Xhaz ended the Bahari Kingdom of Kišakur in 667, which even saw Itrahureš itself submitting to Yamtetšesi domination in 808 against the tidal wave of gnollish invaders. Itrahureš would endure for a hundred more years, before it was finally forced into collapse in 904 against the gnollish onslaught.

Ilatani EverlastingThe Ilatani have had a long history of both domination and subjugation. The Tef Republic asked the old Kingdom of Kišakur to drive the gnolls of Itrahureš away, and gnollish attacks would frequently threaten both the old lands of Kišakur and the Ilatani lands in Itrahureš. The Kingdom of Yametšes extended a hand to the Ilatani, who willingly accepted their offer of aid against foreign incursions gnollish or otherwise. Freedom Through FirepowerIf there is one truth Crathánor has learned, it is that freedom must be backed by firepower, and the one theater over which the Republic must have absolute dominion is the seas. The Ilatani have been sailing for centuries, and security over the lucrative Gemisle remains one of Crathánor’s most important objectives, but recent innovations brought by their Dwarven allies in Ovdal Tûngr have offered their navy explosive new capabilities, for military and mercantile opportunities both.\n\nDuring the war with Re-Uyel the combined fleets ripped through the Re’Uyeli navy, and Crathánori admirals witnessed firsthand the ingenuity of the Dwarves. The Cult of the LightfatherWhen, at the end of the White Pestilence, the Phoenix Empress Jexis offered the Ilatani that remained in Itrahureš the opportunity to repopulate the plague-ravaged region of what is now Crathánor, most jumped at the offer, sailing across the Sea of Follies to make a new Ilatani homeland of Kišakur. For most peoples, this would be a difficult affair, since the local Bahari saw them as foreigners worshipping a false religion, but the Ilatani have long believed in a syncretism of the Castanorian Pantheon and the Sun Cult. Sapphires of the SeaGemisle has historically been among the most important islands in the Divenhal, alongside the Isle of Tef and Elizna. The League of FourThe Goblin Exodus from the Serpentspine ravaged the lands of Bahar during the Decades of Devastation. The "Western Group" of the monsters were unable to penetrate the Citadel of Bal Ourd, and split into the clans of Landshark and Mountainhugger, but they would eventually reunite and attack in the midst of our war of independence.
