Its walls are lined with vibrant mineral bands of red and white sometimes even forming pristine marbled sheets of rock; the interiors are easily large enough to fit small villages. With all this beauty, space, and excavation have come entrepreneurs who ply their trade inside the Grand Salt Mine, establishing taverns, hospitals, and even temples for the citizens and miners to use. The income that the saltworks provide through resource extraction and ground rent has rendered the mines a thriving cultural and economic cornerstone of the state.

|idea2desc=The people of Galéinn are well known for their loyalty and honor, be they the richest noble or the poorest peasant-farmer. This makes it difficult for spies to turn any of our people against us without getting caught and imprisoned by the nobles or caught and torn apart by the masses.
|idea2desc=Galéinn’s populace are notorious, perhaps even infamous, for their unshakeable loyalty to the family of síl Galéinn. Amongst the upper class, it is common to see the wealthiest of nobles spend exorbitant numbers of crowns to commission magnificent salt statues of their favorite síl Galéinn count, hoping to grab the attention of the family. On the streets of Galéinn, one will see depictions of the counts of all styles hung up around and inside homes and businesses. Bards singing of the family síl Galéinn’s exploits, many of which are of dubious historicity, regularly gather dozens if not hundreds of awestruck listeners. This obsession with the ruling family seems to have entrenched itself deep within the minds of Galéinni citizens, with many reports of even the meekest dissidents, nearly all of whom are not native to the country, meeting with persecution and shocking violence at the hands of síl Galéinn’s ravenous followers. It is only natural then that when the county is invaded, every Galéinni citizen takes up the defense of their rulers, willing to lose their lives to protect síl Galéinn.

The Grand Salt Mine of GaléinnAt the heart of Castle Galéinn is the Grand Salt Mine, which the castle was designed to protect. With all this beauty, space, and excavation have come entrepreneurs who ply their trade inside the Grand Salt Mine, establishing taverns, hospitals, and even temples for the citizens and miners to use. Knights of the SaltmarchDuring the War of the Sorcerer-King, much of the old nobility perished. In 1020, the Treaty of Anbenncóst which ended the war would grant the lands that became Galéinn to a newly founded knightly order, the Knights of the Saltmarch. Funded by the profits of the local salt mines, this order attracted those knights who favored boldness in tactics over personal bravery and prowess.\n\nEventually, as the Kingdom of Verne declined, the knightly order would crown its Grandmaster as a sovereign duke, later becoming a direct vassal of the Damerians. To this day, the Knights of the Saltmarch loyally serve the dukes of Galéinn as our most daring and skilled generals.

The Taking of ThanallenThe city of Thanallen was left adrift with the fall of Dameria after the Lilac Wars. Galéinn, citing an ancient agreement between the Kingdom of Verne and the Knights of the Saltmarch, claimed the city for themselves immediately. This has since led to hostility between Galéinn and their neighbors in Cestirande, who for their part had recently consolidated a sizable amount of land after the Lilac Wars and were enraged to find Galéinn challenging their influence over the Luna River states. The competing envoys of Galéinn and Cestirande have become notorious for their incessant imperial petitions over the most trifling of property rights.
